Ever since its (thing that is suddenly shown or understood) 1400 years ago, the Qur‘an has beena book of guidance and inspiration, a reference point,
and a rich source of social and moral energy for hundreds of millions of people throughout theworld who
believe it to be the unchangeable word of God.
Hardly a generation passes without a fresh attempt to figure out the meanings of the Qur‘an andgain deeper understanding of its universal message within a modern (way of seeing things / sensible view of what is and is not important).
In the Shade of the Quran is more than `just another‘ explanation/statement of opinions; yet it isnot too very broad or ridiculous to be a completely new (understanding/ explanation). It is aserious and honest, honest and sober look at man‘s modern (challenging things accomplished or completed) and (problems, delays, etc.) in the light of the message of the Qur‘an. It is an effort toenergetically explore its rich wisdom, and expand its extremely valuable guidance for the benefitof a more and more `sophisticated’, yet highly confused modern (community of people/all good people in the world).
The work, which is by far Sayyid Qutb‘s largest and most very deep/extreme, spans the whole ofthe text of the Qur‘an. It was written, and partly re-written, over a period of more than 15 years, most of which the author had spent in Egyptian prisons, during the 1950s and I960s. In it isembedded Sayyid Qutb‘s (understanding of deep things), highly considered thinking-relatedenergy, and his widely-famous/highly complimented book-related/writing-related amazing abilities.
In the Shade of the Quran has been (existing (the same) everywhere) recognised as anoutstanding (thing that’s given/work that’s done) to Islamic thought and (sum of money given to help pay for college/school learning), to which students and educated people, as well as modernIslamic (coming back to life or popularity after a long time)ist movements all over the world, owea great deal. Now that it is available in English, it will continue to teach and inspire millions more. It will take its rightful place as an extremely important work of reference for a properunderstanding of modern Islamic thinking.
